We had a vision for a safe place for children in care to go that weren't immediately being welcomed by a foster family. The only option for a safe place for these children was the local DCBS office. The worker was forced to stay in the office while a child slept on the floor or a cot if they were lucky. We made it a goal for change and God made it happen. When searching for a name, we kept going back to Agape, meaning the highest form of love. As a team, we all decided Agape House was a perfect fit.
As word got around for this vision, we were approached by New Life Church in Owensboro, Ky. They offered us a vacant building that was previously used for a women's safe haven. We shared the news with our followers and community, and they were on board to support us in any means necessary. They helped renovate, furnish, and stock this new home for vulnerable children in care.
As of August 2022, the doors to Agape House have been open. This home offers a safe environment for children to shower, wash clothing, eat a warm meal, watch a movie, play games, receive new clothing, and sleep in a comfortable bed. The Social Workers on the case have access to Wifi so their workday does not go interrupted. Local organizations offer to provide a meal each time a new child is welcomed into the Agape House doors. We are blessed with continuous generosity and support.
